Brent Carter, SSC
Brent Carter has been a Starting Strength Coach since 2013 and a Seminar Staff Coach since 2014, coaching Starting Strength Seminars across the US. Prior to his involvement with Starting Strength he received his degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences from Texas Tech University with emphasis in biomechanics and exercise physiology. Brent has been coaching clients of all populations and with various goals since 2004. In 2008 Brent moved to NYC to work with a boutique training company specializing in high profile clientele which lead to a career in education developing curriculum for trainers through a state licensed vocational school. After growing a successful Barbell team and group training class (winning three strongest team titles in the USSF) Brent Carter left NY to become the Dallas Fort-Worth Area Developer and lead Starting Strength Coach with plans to open three Starting Strength Gyms in the Metroplex.
Michael Jones, SSC
Coach & Team Mentor
In 2019 Michael Jones earned his Starting Strength Coach credential. During this time he coached a high school football team as their strength and conditioning coach. They went to the state championship twice, winning once. He has enjoyed coaching professional golfers, Crossfit athletes, martial artists, and grandparents. Before this, he trained with an affiliate of USA Weightlifting, apprenticed with SMU Football strength and conditioning, and played collegiate rugby. He loves sharing with his athletes the lessons of the barbell that apply both in and outside of the gym.
Jacob Thias, SSC
Jacob obtained his Starting Strength Coaching credential in July 2022. He began training at the Dallas location in June of 2020 and started coaching once the Plano location opened in 2021. His previous athletic experience includes cross country running, soccer, and collegiate rugby, the physicality of which motivated him to pursue barbell training. After spending half a year as a client at Starting Strength Dallas, Jacob began his coaching internship and education to become a Starting Strength Coach. He competed in the WFAC Strengthlifting Classic and attended the 2021 annual Coach’s Conference. He recently participated in the Starting Strength Seminar, the Olympic Lifting Workshop, and completed the Coaching Preparatory Course. Jacob enjoys helping his athletes realize their potential by using strength training so that they may live healthier and better lives.
